After over 10 years in development, Rega this summer has launched three exciting ‘all-new’ designed Moving Magnet cartridges, these include:

  • Nd3 £175 (Replaces Elys 2)
  • Nd5 £295 (Replaces Exact)
  • Nd7 £450 (All new flagship MM)
Rega Nd3
Rega Nd5
Rega Nd7

This brand new range has been designed using ground-breaking new materials including Neodymium magnets, (which is a world first), offering next level performance without breaking the bank. The ND cartridge body housing is the same shape used with both the Ania/Ania Pro. This also includes 3 point self-tapping bolts to ensure they are easier to install into a Rega tonearm. Note – if you have been using an Elys 2 or Exact cartridge the lift/lower device will need to be adjusted due to the slightly taller ND body.

In the showroom we have installed the Nd3 into our demo Planar 2, Nd5 into our Planar 3 and lastly the Nd7 fitted in our Planar 6. Although, we do predict a new popular pairing of the Nd7 with the Planar 8.

We have been so impressed by the new ND range and not surprisingly my personal favourite out of the gate is the Nd7, which really offers an immersive experience for under £500. As you may already be aware, Rega produce some fantastic integrated phono stages in their amplifiers like the Elex Mk4 and Elicit Mk5. The Nd5 and Nd7 both sounded stunning with plenty of PRaT (pace, rhythm and timing) with either amplifier.

In summary, Rega have produced three new cartridges that we predict will very popular. Already, the early reviews are starting to break and they also agree that Rega have really knocked their new ND range, right out of the park.

Full ND range specifications can be found below. Note – each ND cartridge can be easily identified by the colour of the main body window:
