Re-Discover Your Record Collection

Since opening Vinyl Groove Audio in 2015, we are asked on a regular bias what is the best way to clean the stylus on your cartridge. Now, if you ask 10 different people, you will likely receive 10 different answers.

Our recommendation comes from plenty of first-hand experience and this is one of the best tools we use in the showroom, the Flux Sonic – Electronic Stylus Cleaner. Note – our demo unit is now 11 years old and it is still working perfectly due to it’s impressive German design and exceptional build quality.

There are many ways you could clean your stylus ranging from a soft brush, Linn green stuff and pots of gunk etc, we do not recommend any method where you are applying any excessive force to the stylus/cantilever, which is difficult to control by hand. In our opinion the pots of gunk can put stress the cartridge suspension system, which is not ideal.

The way the Flux Sonic works is you gently drop your stylus onto a vibrating pad (using your tonearm lift/lower device). There is a small LED light which illuminates the pad, allowing for precise placement of your diamond stylus.

Any stuck dirt is removed from your phono cartridge stylus using controlled high-frequency targeted vibrations. We recommend just 10-15 seconds cleaning time to remove any dirt/deposits safely.

We recommend you should use the Flux Sonic after playing 5-6 records to achieve the best possible results. Not only will you benefit from the best sound from your record collection (by keeping your stylus clean), another benefit of regular cleaning will also increase the lifespan of your cartridge too.

This is our opinion is the must-have accessory for your turntable and therefore a superb investment.

The Flux Sonic £120 is bundled with 5ml of Flux-Fluid 2.0 and 2 x Duracell Power batteries (AAA).

Note – Flux-Fluid 2.0 £35 is also available in 15ml bottles.
